G.R.E.A.T Journaling™ Technique
Do you struggle to achieve certain things?
Are you finding it difficult to break bad habits or develop new ones?
Does it sometimes feel hard to stay focused and positive?
If you answered yes to any of these, then this simple journaling technique I’ve developed could really help you. It literally only takes 2 minutes a day, and the benefits can be very powerful. All you need is a simple notebook, any size…and you’re ready to begin.
This is how to start keeping a “G.R.E.A.T Journal™”, at the end of each day, take a few minutes to complete each of the following steps:
G – is for Gratitude: Write down something you are grateful for today
R – is for Repeat: Repeat your “Positive Affirmations” to yourself (if you don’t know what these are, check back here soon as I’ll be writing about the benefits of using positive affirmations and how to create your own, in an upcoming article)
E – is for Emotion, A – is for Action and T – is for Thought
So the last step is to answer each of the following questions:
- What went well today? (1 Emotion, 1 Action, 1 Thought)
- What didn’t go so well today? (1 Emotion, 1 Action, 1 Thought)
- What will I do differently tomorrow? (1 Emotion, 1 Action, 1 Thought)
Doing this quick and simple exercise each day will really help you to become, and remain, aware of how your emotions, mindset and actions are having an impact on your daily results, and make sure that you are able to stay focused on what you DO want in a positive way, rather than get side-tracked worrying about what’s gone wrong and all the things you DON’T want.
I have a “G.R.E.A.T” template you can print out and stick in the front of your journal as a reminder of these steps…if you would like me to send you a copy for your journal, send me a message and I’d be more than happy to email it to you.
